Pfitz 12/55, week 2.  Training did not go as planned, hence the “megafail” in the blog title.  I skipped my 15 mile mid-long run on Sunday.  I was in Maryland & DC this weekend visiting friends and family and it just did not work out.  And by that I clearly mean that I chose sleeping in and spending time with my family over doing the run.  Though at least I can take some solace in the fact that I still ran 24 miles in only 3 runs.  I will note that the “rest” days were all in the schedule as rest/cross days.  The only run I missed was Sunday’s.

I have a lot of weekend travel coming up this fall, and many of the weeks I will be at home, I will also have tailgating calling to me instead of running.  Running definitely takes a lot of mental strength on its own, but marathon training during a busy life adds another level.  I hope I am up for the challenge.  Prioritizing is a bitch.

EAT.

Best Eat of the Week: The food was average Chinese take-out, but I had the rare dinner on Friday night with my parents and my sister.  We don’t get all four of us together very much any more since we all live in different areas.  It was a wonderful coincidence that my sister and I happened to be visiting our parents at the same night.  So the meal was special despite the average food.  🙂

Worst Eat of the Week: Unhealthy driving food… why do I allow myself fast food on the road?  I got a McDonald’s cheeseburger and fries during my drive from Maryland to NC, and a Take Five candy bar… among other things.

NAP.

I don’t think I had any naps this weekend.  Just extra Diet Dew to keep the energy going instead!

DRINK.

Strawberry Mango frozen margarita… so good.  This photo was after a refill or two… I’d already eaten all the salt from the rim.

I can understand the mixing running and social life, it does get difficult and I’m not that social and also not putting in nearly as many miles as you. I’m not sure I’d go so far as to say mega-fail since you did get to spend quality time with your family, but I know missing a long run is a tough shot to take, but good job on still getting some serious solid miles in. It’s early still and you’ve got plenty of time!

Thanks. I’d just like to think I could have/make time for everything! I’ll take the fun of the weekend I just had over getting 5 minutes faster in my marathon PR, to be honest. There is plenty of time left before the race, to be sure.
